Breaking Free & Taking the Road Less Traveled: Speaking Engagement with Sputnik Students
Halloween night event speaking to the group of young entrepreneurs in Spain.
Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs to Take Bold Steps
One of the most energizing and rewarding speaking engagements I’ve had recently was with a group of university-aged entrepreneurs at Sputnik, Fundación El Mundo Que Viene in Spain. These young minds are standing at the crossroads of career, ambition, and independence, and I was honored to share my journey of breaking away from traditional paths, taking risks, and building a life outside the norm.
The Theme: The Road Less Trodden
My session focused on the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone, making bold choices, and embracing the challenges that come with independence. In Spain, where many young adults are accustomed to strong familial support structures, my message was simple: doing hard things builds resilience, and carving your own path leads to extraordinary opportunities.
We explored topics like:
Starting Young – How working from the age of 14, managing staff at 16, and saving to buy my first car shaped my discipline and work ethic.
Building Wealth Early – My journey to owning four properties by 28, buying a new home every two years, and learning the ropes of financial independence.
Balancing Multiple Jobs – How working 2-3 jobs simultaneously helped me develop skills across industries, adapt to different roles, and create a career on my own terms.
Entrepreneurial Thinking – Why traditional career paths aren’t for everyone and how to identify unconventional opportunities to create success.
Decision-Making & Risk-Taking – How to confidently navigate career choices, industries, and personal finance decisions without fear of failure.
An Audience Full of Curiosity & Potential
What I love most about this age group is their openness to new ideas and their hunger for real-world advice. They weren’t afraid to ask the big questions:
“How do I know which career is right for me?”
“What if I make the wrong choice?”
“How can I start making money while still in university?”
“What if I want to go against my family's expectations?”
These conversations are exactly why I love mentoring young entrepreneurs—because their minds are still open, eager, and ready to challenge the status quo.
Final Thoughts
Breaking free from traditional paths isn’t easy - but it’s incredibly rewarding. If there’s one message I wanted to leave with these students, it’s that taking the hard road leads to the most growth. Learning how to hustle, manage money, take risks, and embrace independence early gives you a massive advantage in life and business.
A huge thanks to the team at Sputnik, Fundación El Mundo Que Viene for organizing this session and for cultivating an environment of curiosity, ambition, and forward-thinking leadership. I left the session just as inspired as the students, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
